A Simple Meditation Practice

Find a quiet space. You may sit, stand, walk, or lie down while doing this meditation: do whatever is most comfortable. Take a few moments just to focus on your breath. Once you feel more relaxed, follow the instructions below, breathing as directed and forming the words indicated in your mind. Where more than one statement appears, use each one in turn. Each verse corresponds with an element: spend a little time on each in turn. Be deeply aware of how it feels to dwell on them.

When it is nearly time to finish your session, complete the meditation by spending a period of time focusing on your breath. This corresponds with the fifth element, "void" or "emptiness".

Note: meditation is a mind-altering activity. It is safe in small doses but may not be safe if practised for extended periods without the guidance of an experienced instructor!
