Clear Heart

Clear Heart, Open Mind

a new book by Catherine Rathbun (Jetsun Yeshe)

The Dalai Lama says “From my own limited experience I have found that the greatest degree of inner tranquility comes from the development of love and compassion”.  In her new book, Clear Heart, Open Mind, Catherine Jetsun Yeshe offers clear and practical advice on how to work with ancient meditation practices of compassion in the modern world.  The author reveals how the force of compassion, once activated, can open our world to a place of joy and freedom.  When we realize the deep interconnectedness of life, our perceived problems disappear.  Many people are interested in Tibetan Buddhist meditation but are unsure how to blend their Western viewpoint with Eastern thought.  Clear Heart, Open Mind speaks clearly to the joys and challenges of this journey.

“This book is deeply imbued with the very quality it seeks to communicate.  Its clarity and accessibility for Buddhist practitioners and lay people alike are in themselves compassion in action.” – Carol Aronoff, PhD., Psychologist, Poet and Lecturer at San Francisco State University,  Author of Compassionate Healing: Eastern Perspectives and the Nature of Music

Developing the World Mind:
A Study of the Elements Mandala of Tibetan Buddhism World Mind

by Catherine Rathbun (Jetsun Yeshe)

THE MANDALA OF THE ELEMENTS is a complex symbolic system that correlates physical elements with elements of ordinary and enlightened consciousness. Teachings based on this mandala appear in some form in virtually every Tibetan Buddhist practice. Developing the World Mind introduces Western readers to these teachings, and encourages students to reflect on the deep wisdom they embody.

Internet Teachings September 2001 - February 2002

The Paramitas are the qualities one must develop in order to awaken: generosity, morality, patience, effort, meditation, and wisdom. For six months our Internet Teachings focussed on each of these qualities in turn, beginning with teachings from Catherine on a particular paramita, and then discussion and questions from listeners and in-studio participants. This 2-cassette set presents Catherine's teachings on each of the paramitas.

A foundation puja and the Meditation of White Tara

The Tibetan meditation system is remarkably skillful in its ability to help us cultivate all the qualities necessary for awakening. Learning these meditations in English helps us to cross the cultural gap to a deep understanding of the Tibetan teaching.

SIDE A
As a daily practice, the Foundation Puja lays the ground for balance, openness and appreciation. It can also be used as the classical introduction to Mahamudra practice according to the Karma Kargyu school of Buddhism.

SIDE B
The Meditation of White Tara was recorded at an actual initiation that took place during the retreat. White Tara practice is given to those who need rest and comfort, for it helps to reduce fear, dissolve illness and protect the life thread. This recording cannot, however, replace the illumination that comes from direct teaching and living transmission.
