Software for Internet Teachings
PC Users

To access FOH Internet Teachings you need a computer with a modem and internet connection of at least 28.8 Kbps. You also need audio software: RealPlayer or alternatives such as Real_Alternative or JetAudio. All are available, at least in basic format as shareware.

IMPORTANT: Please install and test this software in advance! You don't want to spend the first part of the class tinkering with glitches!

Streaming Audio--Netcast

Our netcast is hosted by Ryerson University, who uses RealMedia streaming audio files. These can be played by RealOne, which allows you to access the audio signal. If you do not already have RealOne, click here and a new window will come up connecting you to the BBC, which has a less obnoxious version of RealOne. Generally the RealOne player is 'bloatware' and very intrusive.

There are several alternatives that play the same RealMedia format files. Real_Alternative is freeware and JetAudio - Basic is free.

We do not begin netcasting the FOH teaching until the scheduled time, however you can test your audio software any time by clicking here. This connects you with the Ryerson University radio station, "spirit live". If you get a blank page with some gobbledegook on it, try opening your audio player on your computer and pasting or typing the following address in the "Location" box:
rtsp://radio.rcc.ryerson.ca/encoder/spiritlive.rm

Chat Room on Website

Using the chat room is not strictly necessary, but we recommend it strongly as it will allow you to submit questions during the netcast. It will also allow you to get help from our technical people if you have problems accessing the netcast. This is a single room chat site that at present does not require password access (to come). We can communicate on line via keyboard in realtime.

How do I get on the Chat Room?

To access the chat room, go to www.friendsoftheheart.com/Chat/phpMyChat.php3

For first time access, click on "Register". This will pop-up a new window, with a registration form. If you have "Pop-up Stopper" or a similar program that blocks pop-up windows, this needs to be disabled.
For a return user, enter your nickname and password. (For more information, click on the 'Tutorial' at the top of the Login window). Once you are logged in, please let us know the names of all people participating with you and your location. Please test the chat room RIGHT NOW.
