We are fortunate to have our founding teacher, Catherine Rathbun (Jetsun
Yeshe) returning in October 2010 to teach more classes and a retreat day. Don't
miss this opportunity to connect with her and participate in her classes,
which are marked with humour and joy.
Meditation workshop details will be available soon - Saturday October 23, likley 1 to 4pm.
From spring 2010:
8 FOLD NOBLE PATH CLASS
Tuesday April 27
Lama Catherine offered her insights into the on-going Tuesday evening
class on the 8 fold Noble Path. The class will be a combination of
meditation, interactive exercises (possibly including movement) and
discussion.
ESSENTIAL BUDDHISM
Wednesday April 28
There are three important understandings that are considered key to true
involvement with the Buddhist philosophy. They are called the Three Seals
by some and the Three Fold Nature of Reality by others. Their different
interpretations can turn out to be the same teaching, if viewed in depth.
This class will give an overview of this topic, along with exercises to move
theoretic knowledge into actual living practice.
INDIVIDUAL APPOINTMENTS
Friday April 30
By donation
One hour appointments can be made to discuss individual work with Lama
Catherine from 10am to 12 noon, 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9pm. Please contact
David Liang to book.
A DAY OF ADVANCE
Saturday May 1 10am to 5pm
The road out of suffering can seem long and arduous. The need to stay
'connected' at all times can make retreats seem too difficult to attend and,
if we don't 'know' what we are getting into, they can seem scary.
But a retreat is a time to advance our self knowledge and our understanding
of how we fit into the world on our present life path. It is a time to
'step out' and re-connect to the wonder of being human alive in this
wonderful country we call home.
This retreat will be a mini-version of what the summer retreat will offer.
So, if you think you might like to try out a longer retreat, please join us
for this day of moving yoga, contemplation and sharing. Those who are more
experienced in practice can help to set the 'vibe' for the deeper work.
Please wear loose clothing, be prepared to do some meditative movement, and
bring a notebook and some vegetarian food to share, for lunch.
